National Day 2011

The nation celebrated the national independence day on every 31 August while we celebrate hubby's birthday. Yes, my dearest is born on the national day 35 years ago. This year we celebrated hubby birthday with a trip to A'Famosa Safari Park.

Going to school - Open Day

Does kid act differently when they are with and without the parents?

It was Angel's school open day on Saturday. She was very excited about it and have been telling everyone in the house about "Saturday is open day". So I told hubby that there is no way we don't attend (not that we plan not to show up). Angel was telling us that she will show us this and show us that at school.

On Saturday morning, Angel is all ready and excited on our way to the kindy. She starting pointing at the tent in the playground and told us there is something she want to show us. So we happily walk towards the school, teachers greeted us and Angel. I registered ourselves and then .......

Angel refuse to move a step from the door. She just kept very still and quiet. Teacher asked her to go in and play games but she just stand on the same spot without moving. The impatient daddy started to boil up and scolded Angel.

We somehow manage to get her into the kindy, went to her classroom. Her teacher came and discussed Angel's progress. All the time Angel just kept very quiet and did not look at her teacher. I started talking to Angel and show her the work she done at school. I tried to get her to talk by asking her to show me her school. She refused :( Hubby got very angry at Angel's behaviour and leave the kindy after less than 30 minutes there.

On our way out, some teachers notice Angel's behaviour and commented that Angel never behave like that at school. Angel is the apple of all the teachers. She is very obedient and happy girl.

So, why is my cutie pie acting so differently? Yesterday night while we were chatting, she did mention that she is a bit shy at school that day. But then she just didn't want to continue the conversation. Kids also know how to find excuses :) Now I'm wondering how is she going to act on the school's concert day.

Something on the Open day. The theme of this year's open day is "Children of the World" and below are some craft Angel did for the open day. No wonder she insist on wearing jeans ;)

Now she keep asking me to bring her to Australia ;P

The i-gadget

i never understand why everyone is so obsessed with the i-gadgets until i own one myself ;) Have heard so much of good thing about this phone and all its other relatives (MAc book, ipod, ipad etc).

Once i got hold of it, i can't leave it! I'm now so addicted to the phone, even my little girl will ask for the phone when I'm at home.

Hhmmm.. should i get an ipad2?

My SLK

I have been using this lovely car i called my SLK (Si Little Kancil) for over 10 years.

It had never really failed in his service all these years except for once. That one time SLK broke down in the middle of the road during the morning rush hour and he is adding to the jam :p. Besides that one time, I'm very happy and satisfy with his performance.

Sadly, as SLK aged more and more minor problems occured. Yours truly started to comment on his performance and bugged Hubby about those tiny winy sound that SLK made. Hubby, who is responsible in making sure my SLK is at its tip top condition, make up his mind to retire my SLK. And, I got to thank my lovely husband for keeping my SLK at its top condition for so long. Hubby never failed to remind me to service SLK. Hubby will also drive my SLK to the service centre and most of the time pay for the services ;) Honestly, I have never really stepped into a workshop all this while. Thanks, Honey.

So, goodbye SLK. Thanks for transporting me to places that I intend to all this 10+ years.

I hope the next owner will appreciate you and keep you in good condition as Hubby did.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Hei, I'm back and wish I'm not :p

Disneyland is wonderful and everyone is a kid again once we step into the park, or at least I am. I think I am more excited than my girl ;) I wish I could spend more time exploring every single ride and take photos with Disney every character. Unfortunately, we are on a tight schedule and only manage to spend half a day in the park.

Since we stayed at Disneyland Hotel, we got the chance to go back and freshen up before we catch the fireworks and have dinner. Transportation around the resort (Disneyland Park, Disneyland Hotel and Disney Hollywood Hotel) is very convenient. It takes not more than 10 minutes wait for a bus to arrive at the hotel and take you to the park. From the park, buses will wait and leave every 10-15 minutes depending on the crowd.

From here its about 5 minutes walk to the entrance of the park.

The light-up and fireworks are fantastic. You got to see it yourself. Photos do not do justice to the view. And that end our day at the park.

We did not cover all 3 themes of the park or all the rides in the park. Some rides may not be suitable for my little girl of 4 years old. Nevertheless, Angel have a great time in the park. Hope to bring her back for the other rides some other time ;)

Too Busy or too lazy?

Have been abandoning this site for awhile - 3 months!

CNY came and gone :(

In February, celebrated Angel's birthday at her school with her friends. But her best friend was not around and the teacher said she look a little unhappy without him. Yes, its a boy. Will post photos later.

And now, its almost the end of March and the long awaited holidays is just around the corner, yippie.

Actually, not so happy because hubby and I were supposed to travel to Tokyo, Japan. But with the earth quake, tsunami and nuclear situation, we have to cancelled our trip :( In addition, we would not be able to visit Japan for maybe the next 5 - 10years? I pray for the people in Japan, to keep them safe from the nuclear radiation.

We got our refund from AA and Hubby suggested a visit to HK/Macau. Of course I say "YES"! We are going to pay HK Disneyland a visit. Will update the post after the trip and hopefully not 3 months after ;P

Tomorrow will be the last day of Year 2010.

Somehow 2010 had gone by so quickly and to me it was a good year.

We moved in to our new house which we love so much and really glad that we made this buy , although it means more debt :( This year hopefully we could do more to maintain the house and start planning for my princess' room. The first year anniversary of the house will be celebrated with a new fittings for my dearest hubby's collection.

Although not much travelling done in 2010 but enjoy every trip to the fullest. Managed to travel with my girl friends to Taipei, Taiwan in May. We have some fantastic time together and looking forward to our trip in 2011. The best travelling trip will be the trip to Singapore with hubby and Angel. Its actually our first 'overseas' trip - i mean just the 3 of us. Its also Angel first plane right, and she is pestering daddy and mummy for another plane ride. And, of course this mummy will make her wish come true cause we will be flying to Langkawi next year (and hopefully another trip after that)!

The only unfulfill wish is to travel with my parents which I will accomplished next year with the trip to Langkawi. All of us and i mean my parents, brothers, SIL, nephew, hubby and Angel will travel together. Yippie, it will also be my nephew first plane right at about 14mths old then.

At work, my boss have been successful in keeping me busy with all the projects and learn a lot. I believe she is going to do the same in 2011. Just hope that 2011, the company will do better and reward us accordingly.

No new year resolution but there are so much that I'm looking forward to - my 'honeymoon' in Mar/Apr, family trip to Langkawi, potential Europe tour and China trip for my parents. Yes, its all travelling plan cause that's where all the money goes to instead of a new car. And, I'm more than happy to do that :)

So, hope you have a great 2010 and a bountiful 2011 waiting for you.

Weekend with Angel

Weekend is no longer a rest day and its always too short for us. We spend lots of time at home during weekend to bond and relax. Sometimes I cook, which i wish i could do more. Last weekend, Angel requested fried rice and so here are some pictures of her having the fried rice from mummy ;)

Sleepless night :(

I guess this is not a new subject for all parents out there. From the day we become parents, we have to wake up between our ZZzzzz. Some for the first few months while others may be few years.

I am fortunate that during Angel's first 2 years, she sleeps with her grandma. But Angel was a..... difficult baby from young. She will wake up and cry non-stop for 1-2 hours for consecutive nights. That's when MIL will start praying at the altar and then go to temple. Things improve when she turn one year old and stop waking up for milk.

Recently, Angel starts to wake us up middle of the night. Usually she will make a few noise or cry and then seems to be angry with something. Just like when she wanted something and not given in the day. This have been happening for the past month. Really don't know what is going on with her. I asked mom but she say she is fine during the day. Even the teacher says Angel is chirpy in class, no signs of unhappiness.

For the past one week, she only sleep through one night. That's when she is so tired caused she did not have her afternoon nap on Saturday. Monday night, i consider her to sleep through with occasional cough after taking her medicine.

So, what could be wrong?

Mooncake Festival is just around the corner or ...

Its the 8th month of the lunar calendar which means the mooncake festivale is just around the corner. And, we are much closer to the end of the year 2010 or the year of tiger.

Last year, I started to bake mooncake and since we are at home for the raya holidays, i took this opportunity to make some snow skin mooncake. I tried a new recipe with some modification and love how it turn out. Here are some pictures of my mooncake ;)

My Baby .. Throwing Tantrum

Part One

I'm driving Angel back from mom house yesterday night. We reach a traffic lights and we stopped. Angel say turn left and used the side road to skip the traffic light (that's what hubby did before when there is a massive jam). I refused and told her that we need to stop just awhile. And, she start showing me her dissatisfaction - kicking her legs at the car seat, making sound like a roaring lion!

At first I try to explain, and then I ignored her until she started making those irritating sound to show her dissatisfaction! She drive me to my limit and I started raising my voice. I said I will stop the car and she will walk her way back home. She kept quiet a moment but continue with her tantrum when I stopped nagging her.

When we reached home, hubby noted that I look angry. Asked me why. I told him and started to carry Angel from the car. My angry little princess still not happy, showing her dissatisfaction to her daddy. I ignore her and went to take my bath.

Part Two

After my bath, cooled down. Went downstairs, hubby having dinner and saw Angel sleeping on the sofa. Guess she must be tired. Hubby suggested carrying her to her bed and we did just that. But she started crying once hubby carry her and want to go downstairs. Continue crying when she is on her bed. Try to sweet talk with her, still continue crying. Asked her what she wants, still cry. My blood start boiling again. Told her a thousand times (maybe not that many but ...) and she still cries and not answer my questions.

Give her a choice whether to keep quiet and answer my question or I will carry her down as she 'shouted' for. She refused. I can't stand her crying anymore and carry her with her crying louder!

Part Three

Angel continue crying while my blood is boiling inside and thinking what should I do with her. How do you make a 3 years old listen to you in that kind of situation? I thought of my niece, who are just as stubborn - don't listen and not afraid of canning. Is my Angel going to be just like that? I'm got worried.

I took the cane, not wanting to used it. Start talking/nagging at my Angel. Make her stop crying by suggesting she go out of the house if she don't stop. She started to cool down. I started talking. She seems to understand and got 'sad' when i describe how stubborn and naughty she was. How she make mommy mad and angry. I continue talking and as I talk I cool down. Angel start yawning (guess nagging does have the same effect on any age). I suggested she goes to sleep and she obeyed.

Part Four

When she on bed, Angel started crying and want to hug me. I think she understand that I am angry because she is naughty. I hug her, start to tell her to be a good girl so mommy won't get angry, wont' scold her and won't caned her. She cry and hug me more tightly.

........... Angel have been showing her temper very frequent, usually after her nap or when she is tired. So, most of the time I give-in and try to accommodate her. Hubby always say I pampered her, am I? I usually don't canned her but I do shout at her. I think I shouldn't because some experts say that kids will imitate us and re-act the same way. Is that why Angel is throwing tantrum? Haii.... what should I do? Scold her or not? Cane her or not? Hubby still joked and say "wait till she go dating!"

Tomorrow, 31st August, is Malaysia's independence day. It is also my hubby's big day. Yup, my dear husband is a merdeka baby and he always brag that the whole nation is celebrating his birthday! Very perasan.

Hubby don't like party and usually will be very happy to just spend his birthday with a few of his best pals. Today we will be having dinner together again with his pals.

Some updates on Angel going to school.

Looks like Angel's sad mode is over. She is now excited to go to school :) Just today, mom told me that Angel changed and keep asking whether its time to go to school! Yes, she is that excited to go to school.

Hope this mood will continue :)

Going to school ...2

I didn't thought there will be a part 2 to this but there is now. Angel is crying since last week when told that its time to go to school.

The funny thing is she will happily change to her uniform but when told its time to leave the house, she started crying. I have been asking her since last week, why but she just keep quiet. Oh dear...

Last week (during my medical leave) I went to the school and asked the teacher. The teacher noticed that Angel is not quite happy last week. Angel will not go into the class room until being persuaded by her teacher. What could happen?

Today she is crying again. Mom asked her why, she say kids at school beat him. But the teacher did not say anything about other kids beating her, could the teacher hiding something from us?

Or, could it be the baby at home? My mom started looking after my nephew 2 weeks ago, so could Angel felt left out with the baby around. Everyone attention is at the baby and so she is unhappy? There is so many maybe and I don't know how to get her talking to me.

Why is my baby unhappy?

This is making me unhappy too.. and the person sleeping next to me is getting the heat :(

Going to school

Angel have been going to school since March 2010. I sign her up for the 2 days a week class at a montessori near my mom place. Why only 2 days and not whole week? When I suggested sending Angel to school, my parents and hubby are not very supportive. They are of the view that she is too young to go to school. In fact for her age, the curriculum include mostly play then study. During her 3 hours session, she sings song, listens to story and most of the time she plays games. Do you think its too hectic for a 3 years old?

During her first two weeks, Angel cried when dad or mom send her to school. She have been happy telling us her activities at school but when it comes to going to school, she will start to have a sad face.

But recently, mom said Angel enjoy going to school and look forward to her school day. She will get down from the car with the help of a teacher and walk straight to the door for her little gift from teacher - a stamp on her fore-hand ;-) I'm so glad that she enjoy school and did not regret sending her.

But the other day, she came back from school and told mom that her back ache. Angel asked mom to put ointment at her back and must do it right-away. Mom asked her to wait till after her bath but she insist that it hurt very much and must put the ointment right away! Then mom saw that there is 2 little mark on Angel's back right at the backbone. When mom asked Angel, she say a boy beat her.

When we went to fetch Angel that night and saw the mark, we got a bit worry. We keep asking her who, how and where it happened? We asked whether she told the teacher, why she didn't tell the teacher etc... In my mind, I feel like calling the teacher right away and asked her what happen. I could sense hubby is also kind of angry that someone bullied his princess ;(

During our ride back home from mom's place, I keep asking Angel question about the incident.Then I found out that she might not be telling the truth. When we first asked her, she said its a boy who heat her. Then when we asked some more, she said its a girl. Oh gosh.. and finally when we asked further, she said she fell down by herself when she was playing at the playground. She can even describe how she fell and from her look, I know this is the truth.

This incident enlighten me that I have to teach Angel how to protect herself and how helpless she could be without us around her. I know I sound over-protective but can't bear to hear it if she is bullied by other kids.

So, how do you teach a kid to protect herself??

My Baby after all..

I have always thought Angel prefer her grandma and cousins over me. But yesterday's incident tells me that she still want ME!

We were at MIL's house for lunch and SIL and her kids were there too. As usual, Angel will be very happy to be there playing with her cousins. We were there for a few hours and then we decided to go do some groceries shopping. Angel don't want to follow us (me and hubby). She says she want to stay at grandma house. I'm so sad to hear that thinking my girl prefer to stay with grandma. I unwillingly give-in and told Angel that we will pick her in the evening.

Evening came and I drove to MIL house to pick Angel. SIL have left with her kids. When my Angel came to the door, I can sense that she is unhappy. She is not her usual talking self. Then the moment she reach the door step, she jump and hug me. Her eyes started to turn red, my poor baby. She didn't cry at that moment.

Once we were in my car, she started crying and came over my seat to hug me... my eye sight also become blurred. I asked Angel whether she is afraid that I'm not coming back for her. She nodded and cry even louder. My heart ache and in the same time glad that she is still my girl and I still have a place in her heart.

I love you my Angel and I will never want to leave you out of my sight, if I can help it.

Year 2010 1st Trip - Penang

Our very first trip for the year 2010, is to Penang. Departed from my house at around 6am. Went looking for breakfast around Balakong and ended up with dim sum. Nothing fantastic and so no pictures ;) We left for Penang around 7am and was caught in the morning traffic (its a working day).

After the Sg Buloh toll and after Angel asked for her water, I realised that I left her bottle at the shop we had breakfast. How forgetful I am and I blame it on hubby hihihi... of course after he say I'm such a clumsy and forgetful mother. Hhmm..

Our first stop at Penang is an old Guan Yin temple, which the ever superstitious K said is very leng (Cantonese for accurate in predictions). Angel just woke up from her sleep and so look very unhappy in the photo below taken outside the temple.

The front view of the temple - it is a very old temple mainly because the surrounding area is not taken care of. There are beggars sitting at the sidewalks, all expecting you give them money. I saw an old lady giving out angpows to one of them and the others will come running asking for one too.

After some walking around, Angel is back to her ever-energetic-self. I bought some joss stick , lighted them and given to her. She will look at the adults and do what they did. She will say 'poh pi poh pi' (Hokkien for take care) which she learn from her grandmothers :)

Next, we head towards Kek Lok Si for the assam laksa and of course to visit the temple.

After the assam laksa treat, we proceed to Kek Lok Si temple. Instead of walking up the stairs, the lazy me suggested that we drive to the temple. We over-shot and reach a hilltop near to the dam - the Air Itam Dam.

Our position is actually behind the Kek Lok Si temple, see the Guan Yin statue is on the right while the pagoda on the left and we have a view of Penang. An unexpected find.

After a hot afternoon at the temple, we proceed to the famous cendol stall at Lebuh Keng Kwee. The queue was long and since the weather is hot, we decided to find a place at the shop next to the stall. We ordered cendol which costs extra 50cents and also fried kway teow.

See how narrow the shop is, we have to squeeze ourselves in the seat.

and our cendol.. yum yum. We even came back the next day to have another bowl just before we leave Penang.

We then proceed to check-in to the Gurney Hotel and change to our swimsuit right away to deep ourselves in the spacious swimming pool. They have a very spacious children pool which Angel love very much. I even tried the slide with Angel ;) cause she is scared - at first.

Dinner was at the Gurney Drive.. didn't manage to indulge in more food cause it started to rain after our second round.

So sorry I don't have time for more pictures cause I'm updating this from office and I got to rush before my boss notices ;) Will try to post more but without internet at home, I can only do so whenever my boss is not looking in the office.

Backdated UPDATES

I miss the streamyx :( I have been using maxis broadband for one month plus and so far i don't like their connection. it can be very slow and occasionally got disconnected by itself. I have been trying to upload photos and it took me more than 5 minutes to load 1 photos. So, I gave up.

I miss updating my blog. I usually will update with picture so my blog won't look so dry. But with the lousy broadband, I think I gotta update even if its without photos.

Some of the updates I have been prolonging are:
- my new home ;)
- CNY celebration and cookies I've made;
- Angel going to school; and
- last but not least my first holiday in the year 2010!

Be patience with me. I shall keep this blog alive again in no time.

Missing In Action

I have been missing from my blog because no more free time during office hour and no internet connection at home for the past one month. Due to desperation, we have sign-up with Maxis broadband. But I still have not updated this blog as much as I like to.

Have been very busy at work since my new boss join us. The task/project just keep coming our way. At one time, I could be asked to take-up a few projects with a very short timeline. This is so much difference with the past year when I (and my colleagues) are left with not much work except for those periodic reporting. I start to get used to this workload now, thanks to my boss who also start to feel our stress and help very much in off-loading our stress.

At home (in our new house), am keeping up with all the housework.. For the past 5 years of my married life, I do not need to worry about housework cause my MIL will usually manage it with the part-time maid. Now that we are on our on, I am very much responsible for all the work - washing, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning, cooking etc.... the list does not end here.

After work, reach home, take bath, go to mom house, have dinner, bring baby home, ta da ta da and sleep. The routine continues everyday during the working days. Once awhile we get to relax if we don't bring Angel back from mom's house. During those time, I feel lazy to do anything and just want to do nothing!

So, do I regret moving out? No. Because I have the house to myself and I can do whatever I like at home. I mean I can arrange and decorate the house as I like, provided Hubby is agreeable la. And also we have been entertaining our friends at our house and enjoying ourselves.

No pain, no gain. I know I only need more time to get used to this routine and workload. I know I will be able to coop and manage my work and family. Or rather I hope I can and it will be my resolution for the year.

We are celebrating Chinese New Year in 3 days and I feel like I am not prepared yet. I have fully unpack and celebrated Angel's birthday last Sunday but I'm definitely not prepared for the festive season.

First, I don't have enough deco for my house. Speaking of which I have not updated the fully renovated house here. Cause I'm busy with work and we still do not have Streamyx at our area. Ooohhhhh.. please help!

Second, I have not finish baking my cookies. I plan to bake more to give it away to MIL and SIL. Bought all the ingredients but no time, no time!

Third, my workload is getting heavier by the day. I used to brag that I have lots of time to spare but not anymore :(

I think I should stop complaining cause I have decided that despite my work and with my boss approval, I will go on leave this Friday to do as much as I can in a day -bake, shop, clean etc.

I hope you are more prepared then I am.

We have moved!

Yippie, we have finally moved to our new house! Have been busy unpacking for the last 4 and a half days (the other half day is spent dying my hair, yup new hair colour for the new year).

And, for the past 5 days, I'm SOOOoooooo OFFLINE! No internet access at all cause the TM line is not up yet. Probably need to wait for another month for the TM guys to install the cables. Sigh.. feel like I'm living out of this world without the internet.

I have not finish unpacking. My study room is still filled up with box and box of I-don't-know-what inside. I think I'll probably need another 3 days to completely unpack and tidy up the house. Then I will be ready to decorate my house for the CNY which is just about 3 weeks from today.

Before that, will celebrate Angel's 3rd birthday.

Gosh, I need more time and hands!

Went to Bangkok from 14-17 Dec, yes I know its more than a week and I only have time to write about it.

This time I went with my secondary schoolmates and since its a bunch of girls, its shopping, shopping and more shopping! Enjoy ourselves to the fullest and it is a very leisurely trip - no super early wake-up calls and rushing from A to B.

We stayed at Centre Point Silom which is next to the Saphan Taksin BTS station and also the Chao Phraya river boat terminal. This is a very convenient locationfor sight-seeing and also shopping. If you take BTS, its only THB30 to Siam Square/Siam Paragon/MBK and THB40 to Chatuchak Park/JJ Weekend Market. This is by far the most convenient hotel I have stayed in BKK.

The hotel is also connected to Robinson. Robinson's maindoor is facing the mainroad while the hotel is actually behind Robinson but in the same building (hope you understand what I'm trying to say). Next to Robinson is KFC and a 24-hours McDonalds.

I like the room and the type of facility provided. We have a washing machine in the room! WiFi is also free! We were told buy our friend's colleague that this is a hotel tailored for long-stay tourist, hence it is fully equip with cooking utensils.

Angel and her dolls

I have been exposing Angel to various type of soft-toys - teddy bears, little dolls etc. These two are my favorite. They are Angel's favorite too.

I'm not a fan of Doraemon but when I saw these dolls (which i bought on 2 separate occasions from Bangkok) I just love it. I bought Sizuka first as I wanna introduce girl to Angel. Then I introduce Nobita as a friend to Sizuka.

Angel sleep with both the dolls. She will not sleep if she do not see them both! In the morning she will ask me to carry one of the doll to downstairs, saying she can't carry both but look she got no problem carrying both here.

Now it sort of worries me cause she talk to the dolls when we are not watching. Perhaps, she is too lonely.

Renovation: Week 5 & 6

I am being lazy again by combining this 'progress report' into one entry. Actually I have been busy the past two weeks - holiday in Bangkok with friends and help my MIL to move to her house.

But the truth is in this past two weeks the only work done is the tiling work, so not much that I can write about and pictures are really good to tell the story. Tiling is such a tedious work and it took 3 strong man and almost 2 weeks to complete the kitchen, dining, backyard, 4 bathrooms and other minor area.

I'm trying to load some pictures but can't seems to do it. So, photos will be up later.

This is Angel in her crying mode!

We went to inspect the house on Saturday and the workers are working and it was dusty and noisy, so we were talking to the contractor outside the house. Angel was happily walking up and down the corridor.

I, as usual, will be shouting, like a mad women, at her for running while she just ignore me. And, when I stopped shouting, she start crying! She fell down on the cement pavement while running. Come to think of it, Angel never really fell down with such injury on her knees.

I also have not took any picture of her crying. She is so angry that I take a picture of her crying, she cry even louder!

Renovation: Week 4

So, its alsmost a month now since we started our renovation. Glad that no more suprises and hope we can complete the whole renovation by month end (keeping my fingers cross).

Here are some of the progress in week 4...

Below the kitchen top where the hob is going to sit on.

Here is a full view of the hob counter which is beside my 'dry' kitchen.

The empty window panel will be replace with a beautiful glass carving!

All the toilets are now equipped with a vanity top.

I like this idea so that we don't need to install any rack for our toiletries.

The major work completed is the installation of the plaster ceiling for the whole house.

Below is the result of the living room.

Come this week we expect the tiling work of the 4 toilets and kitchen to be completed. After which most of the mainwork is completed. We will start the paint work and call our carpentry work contractor. The grille will need to be installed before the lighting, fans and aircond. Not forgetting to reinforce the roof.

If everything is as per schedule then we will be moving in by January 2010. New year, new house!

Concert: Jor Lun Yau Lei aka Alan Tam and Hacken Lee

Yes, I was at the concert on Saturday! With Hubby, K and W. So looking forward to this cause have not manage to catch any concert for some time. The last that I went, with hubby, was the Jacky Cheung concert about 2 years ago (?) We saw a long jam along the road towards TPM and decided to leave our car at the Tmn Sg Besi LRT station. Happily we bought our tickets and the train if packed with all concert goers!

The concert is suppose to start at 8:30pm but only started at 9pm - Malaysian time :(

Here are some of the photos taken, with my K800 hence quality is so so. I wish I have a DSLR as the stage is just incredible (or maybe I have not been to concert for long). The colour combination and the graphic display is fabulous.

We enjoy ourselves very much and sang our lungs out!!! I love their pick-your-song session, each of them will suggest 2 songs and will sing the song with the most clap/cheers. At certain combination, the crowds are equally divided and both singers generously sang both songs! The crowds sang with the stars until 12 midnight!

I enjoy the songs so much that at some point I really feel like stand-up and dance. But the crowd nearby are such an obedient lot. Most of them just sit there quietly watching the concert while the 4 of us and 3 other ladies on my right are singing/shouting loudly, waving our hands and participated in the show! You know what I mean?

Anyhow we left with a happy memories of the concert until we reach the LRT station. Why? Because the station is closed and we can get back to our car!!!!!!!! So much for supporting the public transport. Those who used the public transport that day were so disappointed that the LRT is close at 11:30pm. Mostly thought that the LRT will operate till later cause there are not 1 but 2 concerts on the same night. But how wrong all of us are!

Renovation: Week 3

Progress in week 3 is SLOWwwwwwww and the reason being the developer is taking his own sweet time to rectify the defects. After 2 weeks of waiting they fixed one of the major plumbing defects. We would not wait for the developer for the other defect, decided to asked the contractor to repair it.

I was a bit scared when Hubby asked me to climb up even Angel is much more brave then I am.

Hubby can't stand straight on the attic while my head will touches the ceiling if I stand straight.

For Angel, no problem! She is enjoying herself cause she got to climb up the stairs.

We got an extra 1.5 feet. We asked for a cement slab to be built and to be turn into a window-seat cum cabinet.

All 3 rooms will have it.

Ohh, and when we were at the attic, we found another problem.....

Picture below is just outside the attic window and its where the water tank sits. Can you see the reflection? There is water on the pavement! I was telling Hubby that if this water can't disperse fast enough and with the current raining season, we will have a very big aquarium on our roof!!!

Does any of you have such problem with your house? I wonder what was the engineer and architect thinking. This people just don't care about other thing else but their profit margin. Hubby have posted his comment on our neighbourhood forum. Hopefully we can figure something to solve the problem.

I have lost count of how many wedding I have attended this year, will be attending another this Thursday. Last Saturday was my cousin sister's wedding held at Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur. My second time at Parkroyal Ballroom for wedding.

It was raining cats and dog on our way to the hotel but luckily the traffic is smooth or because we are early. Cocktail is served from 6:30pm, we reach the hotel slightly after 6pm and we are not the earliest. Aunt 6 and family were there way before us. Ohh.. in case you want to know my mom have got 10 siblings and 8 (including mom) are girls. So, I have 7 aunts from my mom side. This is wedding of eldest daughter of my 5th aunt. Will have many more weddings to attend as the youngest cousin is only 7 years old!

I don't have a camera with me and was using my phone so the quality of the pictures were blurrish.

Renovation: Week 2

Another 7 days gone and this is how my house look like.

Once I reach the first floor - instead of sunshine, I'm greeted by this....the ATTIC!

This is the base of the attic floor, when the plaster ceiling its done, it will look much nicer.

Now the frame is being re-attached.

Hacking of walls for wiring and air-cond piping - look so ugly and dangerous.

As the renovation work progress, the contractor discover a few more defect in the building. Some of which may be due to poor workmanship and even poor design on the architect. Its so sad that we paid so much for the house and this is the kind of quality that we are getting. These defects are causing the renovation to be delayed.

And of course the weather doesn't help much. Hopefully the rain will stop soon and the sun will be out more.

Estimated completion date: end December 2009. cross my fingers 8.

Hubby have been very busy checking on the progress of the renovation. He will be at the house after work - everyday without fail. He will 'report' to me on the progress and discuss any last minute changes like the beam near the toilet that we can't demolished, whether to replace or re-used some existing fittings etc.

Sometimes he will come back with a very serious looking expression and it make me worried. When I ask he will say he is thinking of how to solve problem encounter during the renovation. He refuse to tell me saying he don't want to make me worry or that I won't be able to solve the problem..... hhmmm

Nevertheless, I am really grateful to hubby for all that he have done for me and Angel.

Bowling again..

It has been almost a year and our Sport Club organised another bowling tournament as part of team building. This time it is held on a weekday, yesterday after our office hour. Almost half of the company went including our CEO and his family.

Me and another colleague in my department joined 2 others to form our team - Funky Bowlers! The Funky Bowlers did not win but we have a great time and were the most colourful lot!

Renovation: Week 1

Last week have been a very busy week, especially Hubby. Started the renovation work on our house this week and attended 2 functions on Sunday itself.

Following some photos on the progress of our house renovation.

Wall between kitchen - bathroom - bedroom : Demolished

See the floor without tiles, that's the original bath area of the washroom. While the other row of dis-tile floor is the original wall dividing the kitchen - bath area and room. We will have our dining table and an island here.

All 3 bathrooms at 1st floor - tiles were removed so that better water proofing can be done to avoid leaking in the future.

Above: all the toilet bowls and wash basin from the toilets seating in my living room.

We relocate the window at Room 2 and 3. So we will have another feet in the room.

All this ugly piping will be conceal within plaster ceiling.

We are expecting some electrical work to be done this week.. If, we are lucky the piping from the toilet will be replace by the developer so that we can continue with our renovation without much delay.

Although we have decided to accept whatever defect by fixing it ourself, this piping thing is too much a work and will have costs us a bomb to fix it. Hence, we are asking the developer to fix it. But they are taking their own sweet time to come :(

HP Mini

I promise you that I'm going to show you the HP mini I won and I am so sorry to keep you waiting. Here are some pictures of the Mini, comparing it with the size of The STAR newspaper and our Astro remote controller. The screen is only 10 inch and hence it is kind of small. Have to really get use to it. Other than that the performance is acceptable and just like any other laptop/desktop.

Have you used one of this?

I just got myself a pair and will be wearing it with a top I bought. The top have got a very deep V at the back and normal bra will not be suitable. I have tried several other alternatives at the La S outlet but don't like the design.

This pair that I bought can be worn with or without the transparent strap provided. Meaning this pair can be worn just like a normal half-cup bra or with the halter neck strap. That is one of the reason I will buy this. Plus its also not expensive only RM49.90.

Renovation

We are going to start renovating our new house.

Hubby is so fed-up with the repair that the developer is suppose to complete and decided to start renovation without the rectification of the defects. The developer seems to be taking ages to rectify since we submitted our list of defects 2 weeks ago. Some houseowner actually complaint that after 2 months and the defects are not rectify! Well, maybe because we are not paying for the defects so the developer and/or their sub-con is taking their own sweet time to rectify. If we give 2 months and paid them to do it, I think they can build us another house!

We will like to start our renovation this month but have not decided which contractor to use. If money is not a concern, we could have just choose any contractor. But money is a concern and will like to sticks to our estimated budget. Nevertheless, I'm very excited about this whole renovation process because I'm going to have my kitchen complete with an ISLAND!!!!!

I have dreamt of such kitchen ever since we bought our current house. But due to space constraint, no island in the current kitchen :( Now space is available and hubby offered to custom made an ISLAND for our kitchen. Will definetly post some photos when the reno is done.

In addition, we will have an attic in the house too. Yes, an ATTIC! The family area in the second floor has got a very high ceiling with windows and after seeing one of the neighbour's house with a newly built attic... hhhmmmm... hubby just can't resist the idea. He said its going to be his hiding place.. hide from Angel! Angel will have a hard time looking for daddy when playing hide and seek ;)

I just hope that as we renovate, hubby will not have some more ideas which will cause our reno costs to balloon! Now, whenever he suggested something, I will always ask him the purpose. If he can't answer, the idea will be scrapped! I wanna stick to our other plans - travelling plans so must control our funds.

Discipline

How do you discipline your kids?

My parents used cane to discipline me and my brothers, less on my baby brother. I still remember one day when i was around 5 or 6 years old, I was caned by my father cause i refuse to leave my grandma's house as I was enjoying myself playing with my cousins. My dad have to drag me to the car and when at home drag me out of the car and started to caned me. The caning leave some very noticebale mark, lucky its no longer visible after a few days. And, ever since I'm absolutely scared of my dad.

I read through a lots of reading (especially Western) about disciplining your kids and these professionals advice against caning or any form of beating. I will actually like that idea cause I do not want to hurt my baby like how my parents did.

I tried putting Angel facing the wall and after 2 attempts, she is well aware that it is a form of punishment. She will cry/scream whenever I mentioned 'go face the wall'. I refuse to use cane but still unable to control myself, sometimes I do hit Angel with my pair of hands. Regretting after that :(

She is only 2. Is it too young for us to punish her?

The other day, Angel was playing with the Astro remote control and accidentally press on the 'Guide' button and the blue screen appear. We asked her who did that, she replied "Pa pa". Hubby refuse to let her getaway with this (lying) and insist that she tell us the truth. Angel refuse and keep repeating "pa pa". Hubby carry to aside and Angel started crying very loudly. Hubby in his attempt to control Angel and himself, asked Angel to say sorry. This girl is so stubborn. She pleaded with her daddy but still REFUSE to say sorry!

I gotta say I'm surprise that Hubby did not lose his temper nor hit Angel. Instead, he tried to reason with her. But Angel just refuse to admit and say sorry :( I'm just wondering - if she is so stubborn now at 2, what will she be like when she is older?

I attended a seminar on Wed at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur. I have been to this hotel but never thought that it have got so many function rooms. There about 10 other functions at Shangri-la that day.

Angel have been sick

Friends who are connected to me via FB will know that I have been busy worrying about my girl for the pass week. She have been vomiting at night after her milk for almost the whole week. Have been monitoring her food intake during the night as suggested by the paed and also controlling her fluid intake 2 hours prior to her bedtime.

So far, so good. She stop vomiting since the monitoring of her food and fluid intake. But these two days, she started coughing which get worst yesterday night. Cause she sipped on my Milo Dinosaur while we were having supper with K & W.

I noticed that Angel got her cough easily whenever she have cold drinks even the Yakult or the drinkable calcium. Mom says its because her lungs are cold after a few session of playing in the water ie swimming pool! That's her experience with my baby brother. Hence, mom is always against my idea of bringing Angel for swimming session unless its on a hot sunny day.

Lately with Angel quite frequently cough at night, I starts to believe in mom. I'm trying chinese remedy such as chinese herb as I alsways feel that herbs are better than those medicine/vitamin produced using chemical. I'm still very much a China-mom :P

So, any advice on other remedy that I could try?

We were at Alamnda on Sunday for dinner. As usual when Angel saw those kiddy ride along the corridor, she will insist that we let her ride. She is so cunning. While we were having our dinner...

At first Hubby just get half of himself into the ride.

And, then....

Angel insist that Daddy sit beside her.

Deepavali Gift from Employer

As mentioned in my earlier post, staffs were presented with the Deepavali gift during our Raya celebration. The gift is a box of 12 mini cheese cake from the famous the Loaf.

Raya Celebration @ Office

As usual we have our festive celebration in the office. Cater for food to be serve in our break-out area.

So many food and a good variety of them. Nasi briyiani, lamb, tandoori chicken with naan, lemang with mutton curry, satay with peanut sauce, pasta in cream sauce, spaghetti in chicken tomato sauce, mushroom soup with dinner rolls plus pengat pisang, fruit punch and fruits for desserts.

As Deepavali is just around the corner, the Deepavali gift was also given away on the same day.
The gift is a box of 12 mini cheese cake from the Loaf.

Vietnamese Food @ The Mines

Last Sunday, hubby and I left Angel with mom so that we can inspect our new house. After the inspection, we went back to take our bath and decided to head to the Mines Shopping Centre for dinner.

Hubby suggested something which we won't have with Angel around such as spicy food. Hubby wanted Thai but the Thai restaurant that we used to go is no longer operating. Went through the list of eateries on the information board and decided to give Vietnamese a try. We fell in love with Vietnamese food after we traveled to Hanoi 2 years ago.

So sorry cause i forget the name of the restaurant but its opposite the Sushi King at level LG.

What I had? Hot and sour seafood noodle - a substitute of our tom yam.

Hubby had rice with BBQ chicken, Vietnamese style.

The service is good probably because not many customers. Food is not too bad, we still prefer those we had in Hanoi. Through out our dinner, hubby is listing and describing the food we had in Hanoi. It really make me feel like flying off to Hanoi.

Mid-Autumn Festival

Its the 8th lunar month and I'm anxiously awaiting for the mid-autumn festival celebration with family. Have been making mooncake since almost a month ago so that I'm prepared to make more for the festival.

But on this lovely full-moon day, we have to attend a cousin's wedding. There goes my plan of showing off my mooncake :(

Attended the wedding at Noble House, Kuala Lumpur with my hubby's family. The dinner was held on the 1st floor of the house and the place is quite cramp for 30 tables. No time to snap any food pictures, just some pictures of my Angel.

Pooh and Piglet Snowskin Mooncake

Baked some more snowskin mooncakes during the raya holidays. This time I used the just-arrived mould from NST - the Pooh and Piglet mould which I purchased purposely for this.

The mould is so easy to use - much easier than those conventional wooden mould and cuter too ;)

I used the Piglet mould for red bean paste filling and Pooh mould for lotus paste filling. That's why you see the 'black' Piglet as picture below.

I gave some to mom for her distribution and also a box to my SIL.

And, pack some of the mooncake and shared with my colleagues in the office yesterday. Coincidentally, my boss called us to his room for a mooncake session - I don't have to go round to distribute the mooncake.

What do you think? Aren't they cute? I love them.

Our New Home

We have got ourself a new house. The financier finally paid the developer and the loan process is finally over. We will be a few thousand poorer from next month onwards and for the next 20 years!

We first saw the house in June 2009 and sought of love at first sight. We contemplated and view a few samples house of different design. When we decided, we found out that the houses are selling like hot-cakes. A few unit that we set our eyes on are all sold.

We go round the area again and short-listed two units. You know what, its SOLD too. But the staff is kind enough (cause we have went to inquire almost every weekend) and offered to check whether there are any purchases cancelled due to failure in loan application. And, voila! She found not one but two unit.

We rush to the site and saw the two units on Saturday and on Sunday morning we went to the developer office to pay our deposit!

That all happen within a few weeks and we finally going to get our house key this weekend. Heard other housebuyers that there are many defects - one even have water leakages problem. Hopefully ours are with minimal defects - don't think there will be zero defect.

We sent MIL to the airport last Friday nite. She is traveling with her sisters to Italy (and a few other countries). We were there early cause MIL is so worried that we could got stuck in a traffic jam as it was two days to Hari Raya. But the traffic was smooth and took us less than an hour to reach the airport.

We were at the airport for almost 2 hours plus and Angel become restless. She started running around and climbed on the trolley with MIL's luggage. (sorry for the poor photo quality as I'm using my handphone)

As usual my employer will give-away festive goodies to all staff. This year we receive a weaved basket filled with goodies. The weaved basket look elegant.

Dinner at Ulu Yam

The day after I bought my parents to Bagan Hailam, hubby's friends, hubby, Angel and I went to Ulu Yam to have dinner. This is a consolation to our cancelled trip to celebrate K and hubby's birthday - all no thanks to the widespread Influenza AH1N1!

We, all 6 adults + 1 kid, went in C's new Exora. And this is one very affordable and spacious MPV. At last Proton did something right. Its so fun to be able to travel in a group in one vehicle, its merrier. Angel is having fun in the car with aunties and uncles. She keep surprising us with her 'tricks' and make all of us laugh. My baby :)

On our way to Ulu Yam, we passed by this beautiful lake and decided to stop and manage to take some photos. I think we can actually swim in the lake cause later I saw washroom nearby the area we stopped our car.

We are not sure which restaurant to go to and just stop at the restaurant with most patrons. This shop is at the mainroad of Ulu Yam. I didn't get a photo of the shop and also forget the name.. sorry :( I'm also too busy eating and forget all about taking photos of the food! But we love the food and its much better than those we had at Bagan Hailam.

Traditional Mooncake: 1st Trial

This year I have the urge to make my own mooncake. I have made some snowskin mooncake and am liking it. Last weekend I tried baking some traditional mooncake based on recipe from Lily of Lily's Wai Sek Hong.

The process is quite tedious as I started with making my own golden syrup as per Lily's recipe. Then a mixture for the dough need to be rest for an hour before mixing with the flour. The dough as per picture below will then be left to rest for 30minutes before it can be used.

The mooncake ready for their 1st bake/broil until brown. After which it needs to be cooled for 10-15 minutes before applying the egg wash and continue for 2nd bake.

ta da... my 1st batch of mooncake looks UGLY!!!!!

and I used the Mickey Mouse cutter for some of the dough but then the portion is too small... the Mickey's ears looks like cutted-off!!! Hubby said very creative but gotta try harder!

Mom and dad say the taste is ok but gotta improve on the look. And I promise myself I will.

My second batch look better and is still in the container. As advised by some blogger, baked mooncake taste better 2-3 days after it is baked. So I will wait till tomorrow before I taste my second batch. Will keep you posted ;)

Ondeh-ondeh: My comfort food on a Sunday afternoon

Last Sunday hubby was out meeting some soon-to-be neighbours while I spend the whole afternoon with Angel at home. We share a red bean pau for breakfast with a cup of spirulina cereal drinks. Put some cloths in the washing machine and prepared our lunch - chicken porridge. After putting Angel to her nap, I can't resist the temptation to make myself some kuih as I have not yet visited any pasar ramadhan.

I drove the car out while hubby and Angel are sleeping, just to get some freshly grated coconut to complete my kuih in mind - ondeh-ondeh. Its a kuih made from glutinous rice flour filled with palm sugar/gula melaka. I used a bowl of flour and make some 26 pieces of ondeh-ondeh for myself. Hubby does not like sweet stuff and glutinous is not suitable for kids, so I have all the ondeh-ondeh with a cup of coffee. MMmmmmm...

Bagan Hailam Restaurant

My brother suggested to have dinner at Bagan Hailam, somewhere in Klang, last Saturday. Did some research on the net and found a few bloggers recommended this restaurant - Bagan Hailam Restaurant (BHR).

Tried calling a number stated on one of the blogs. The man who pick-up mentioned that he WAS the chef at BHR but now a chef at SK Seafood Restaurant just beside BHR. So, me not knowing whether to believe him or not, booked a table for 7 adults.

On the day, after a long journey from my brother's house in Puchong to Klang (Northport) we arrived at Bagan Hailam. There are a number of seafood restaurants but we decided to follow the bloggers' advice and look for BHR. Once there, we saw SK just next to BHR. The place look like Pulau Ketam but not as smelly.

I baked some muffin two weekends ago - this time I tried some apple muffin. Angel was around and wanted to help, more play than help actually. I took out the paper cups and asked Angel to arrange it on the baking tray while I measured and mix the ingredients.

To my surprise she did a good job, although some have got 2 cups sticked together.

Reunited with my Angel!

After a long 3 days, I'm finally reunited with my Angel. She is as excited as I am when I went to pick her up at my mom's place. Shouting away when mom announced that I have arrived.

Only 3 days apart from her and somehow she look different. Taller, chubbier and more talkative. She is now talking in a sentence of more than 5 words. We speaks to her in mostly Mandarin and sometimes English. She will usually speaks in Mandarin even if we ask her question in English.

When Hubby saw her at home, he also commented that Angel look different. On Saturday morning, he said Angel is very zhi zha - very talkative or noisy :).

I was busy baking some muffin on Sunday while Angel is busy talking to me (Daddy is not at home at that time). Up to a point I didn't asnwer her, to my surprise she walk up to me, hug my leg (that 's where she can reach now) and say "wo de bao bei" (my precious!). How sweet of my girl!

My little Angel is growing up fast. She is full of surprises nowadays.

H1N1, Please Leave Us Alone!!

We received message early yesterday morning that one of our colleagues is suspected of the Influenza AH1N1! Everyone is asked to wear a masked, her office is being sanitized and so is area around her staffs.

Because of that I have let Angel stay at my mom house and have not seen her since yesterday morning. :(

This morning we received another message to say one of our colleague's son is confirmed a H1N1 patient and they are currently being quarantined in a hospital. Shortly after lunch another staff who is in her 1st tri-mester is asked by her doctor to stay at home due to her flu!

Oh my god... I called mom and told her Angel will have to stay with her for the next few days. My Angel was shouting behind asking "Mommy come, mommy come".

Ohhhh, I wish I could my baby. Mommy just want to make sure that mommy was not infected before mommy can assure myself that Angel will be safe from the virus. Mommy know you miss mommy, mommy miss you too. Love you.

Black Sesame Snow Skin Mooncake

The Lantern Festival is about one and a half month away but supermarkets start selling the mooncake. I have even bought some and made some ;)

Got this simple recipe and try making this snow skin mooncake. The snow skin does not look like snow cause its black in colour. The black colour is due to the ground black sesame. It is delicious, hihihi at least my Angel love them too.

I didn't get a proper mooncake mould so used the angku kuih wooden mould. I used a small mould so the mooncake can be pop into one's mouth :)

These are my cute little black sesame mooncake with lotus paste filling. its actually about the size of a 50cents coin. It does not look pretty but its taste is good and also very healthy. Black sesame its good for your health and especially if you want shiny black hair!

Will try other mooncake recipe before the Lantern Festival. If its nice can give-away as festive gifts too. Not a bad idea huh ;)

Stuffed Crab @ Chukai, Terengganu

During our weekend at East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, we took a detour to Chukai to have the famous stuffed crab. The place is very packed and we have to move table twice from a table for 10 to a table for 3. The taukeh really know how to maximize her space.

My verdict - the filling of the stuffed crab (which is mostly crab meat) is very sweet on my first 2 bites. But it is actually very oily cause they fried the stuffed crab and loads of oil is soaked in the filling. Overall, all the dishes are good.

Treasure Hunt; fr KL to Kuantan

Was away during the weekend for a treasure hunt organized by my company in conjunction with its annual family day outing. Our mission is hunt the treasure to Kuantan. This is my 3rd treasure hunt and hubby's first (& Angel's too). I was a bit worry that it will be difficult to hunt with Angel around and only the two of us as hunters. But we manage and we won 2nd place, hooray!!!

Below some pictures of the event, not much pictures cause were busy hunting and during the night Angel was feverish. So, worry that its the H1N1. Luckily she recovered the next day after forcing a few bottles of water + 100plus on her.

Prawn Feast @ Tualang

Almost forget about this feast we had on our way back from Pangkor. We stop at this small town called Tualang which is famous for its prawn. The 4 of us have 2kg of prawn in 2 type of style - one steam and the other fried with spices.

Pulau Pangkor, Weekend Getaway!

As mentioned in my previous post, I'm celebrating my birthday in Pulau Pangkor with my hubby, Angel, K and W. We were there for a night stay at Coral Beach Resort's 3 rooms apartment. Another couple was suppose to join us but couldn't make it at the end. Actually we were in the islamd for 24hours only as K and W need to rush back to their shop.

Our accommodation and half day tour were arranged by a friend of W's mother, we called Uncle Lim. Uncle Lim is a owner of a restaurant where we had our seafood lunch and dinner. During this short trip we met with 3 very friendly uncles - Uncle Lee (our tour guide and chauffuer during our half day tour), Uncle Poh (our Captain during our island hopping on his speedboat) and of course Uncle Lim (our 'Event Organiser' cum chef).

After our lunch at Uncle Lim's shop, we went island hopping on Uncle Poh's speed boat. Angel is a bit scared during the 1st part of the ride. There is big wave and salt water splashes on her face. Whenever the boat start jumping, she will cover her face with her little hand. So cute :)

After awhile she got used to the jumpy ride. When we reach the snorkeling site, she is excited to see all the fishes. She enjoy feeding the fish with bread.

After snorkeling, Uncle Poh let us rest on a little island. This island is accessible by land during low tide especially during the 1st lunar month. Angel enjoy her 1st beach-play on this little island.

4th of July is the US independence day and also my birthday.

No big celebration. Just have dinner with my parents, sibling and of course my hubby and lil' Angel. Hubby and gang suggested karaoke and we bring along lil' Angel. Its her first time to a karaoke. She enjoy it very much, holding on to a mic and singing .. or should i say shouting :) and dancing around the room with hubby and gang.

My special celebration will come next Friday when we will be travelling to Pangkor. So looking forward to the trip. Will update here, so stay tune.

I mentioned about this makan place near my housing area earlier but have not got any food picture to share. I was there again last nite with hubby's pal. We try this tomato seafood pasta.

Our verdict - the sauce is sweet and not enough tomato-ish taste. But overall we still enjoy it.

We celebrated 3 June's babies on Tuesday at this place in Ampang. Its my first time here and was surprised to find the place crowded even on a weekday!

Here are the pictures of the food we had.

A type of Thai fried fritter served with kaya.

BBQ cockerels and its best eaten with the sauce. Even me who don't fancy cockerels enjoy it :)

A clean plate of mango kerabu - not very authentic but good.

Fried rice. Very tasty..

Glass chicken feet. A few of us have not heard of or tried this before.

Tom Yam - not very authentic but does not taste like ready-made :)

Steam fish - too salty.

And, the BBQ crabs.. It look dry and tasteless but its actually yummy...

I have this habit now of taking pictures of the towel packet which always have the address printed. So, i don't need to type the address for you ;)

Total damage RM191.90 and RM25for drinks.

What is a birthday celebration without a cake, so the dessert of the night is mango cake from BreadStory.

Ninja Jones

Almost forgetton about this dinner at Ninja Jones with hubby - one of our pak tor (dates). We have our dinner at this restaurant and catch a movie at GSC Mid Valley after the dinner.

We enjoy our dinner so much cause the recommended dish is superbly delicious! Here are some pictures of what we had but some minus the dish name cause I have forgotten.. sorry :(

Buddha Jump Over the Wall

This (the title) is a Chinese dish and not some story that I'm going to talk about. Most Chinese will be familiar with this dish.

I almost forget to blog about this due to procrastination/laziness...

We (my hubby's friend (K) and wife (W) plus hubby, me and my Angel) went on this day trip during K's wife (ie W's) birthday. K and W suggest that we go try out this famous dish at Temerloh after much talk about in the show 'Ah Sien' in Astro AEC sometime ago. K called to book a table and ordered their famous dish.

The 2 dishes are meant for 10 persons and the boss refuse to let us order another vege. She even warn us that the dish is big portion. When we first saw the pot of BJOtW, we thought we could finish but we are so so so WRONG!!! We have to take away almost half of the BJOtW and is so full that we have a packet of ENO each before we left the shop!

Our verdict - its worth the journey and the dish is very GOOD! But do ask more friends to join you unless you wanna try finishing the whole pot - good luck :)

Pizza

I tried baking pizza during a weekend and it turn out marvelously!! I'm so happy to see the pizza before and after it is bake. Here are photos to show my result.

The toppings include from top - cheese, chicken, mushrooms, onion, capsicum and tomato sauce.. yum yum...

I bake this again last week and my brother love it! Yum Yum

Family matters

Being a daughter, a wife, a daughter in-law, a mother and an employee. One can actually wear so many hats at the same time! And are committed to so many parties at the same time.

Maybe because I'm a cancerian, I value my family above anything else. My daughter, my husband, my parents and siblings are my priority - in that order.

And, yes i left out my other family members - parents in-laws and sisters in-laws. I left them out not because I don't treat them as family but because I feel I have not play that role very well. Recent event in the house tells me that I should have a better relationship with my in-laws. Many will have the person in mind *wink wink*...

In my case, I live in with my parents in-law (thank goodness all my husband's siblings are married). And within this 5 years, I think I have openly hurt my MIL twice - both after my daughter was born and the root cause is actually my expectation on my husband. Besides that, I treat them with respect. But I think that is not enough cause I feel we have not communicated/talk about a lots of things which we should to avoid what have happen in recent months.

I'm grateful and thankful to my in-laws because they have take care of my daughter for the past two years. MIL even cook and clean for us when we are without the contract maid. I never ask for anything more from them and will usually be patience with them even when I'm unhappy. But its not enough. I should have told them when I'm unhappy and why. I should have also ask them if they are unhappy with me.

Talk, talk and talk we should have been instead we keep our unhappiness to ourselves. I hope its not too late to talk.

Cameron Highlands, May 1 and 2

Hubby and gang is planning for a short trip during the recent Labour Day holidays. After several 'AGM' and several session of IM, we finally decided to pay Cameron Highlands a visit. We got a room 2 days before the trip and 6 of us adult plus my Angel is going to squeeze into a room with 3 beds!

We begin our day early at 6am, have breakfast and start our journey. We stop by at Bidor for a break, have another meal before we continue our journey. By the time we reach the Simpang Pulai tol exit, we saw the long queue of cars ---- JAM!!! OMG...

By the time we reach Kampung Raja, its almost lunch time and we stop to have another meal. We pass by this shop which sells puff with strawberry fillings. And mind you.. its delicious especially the strawberry fillings.

We continue our journey and is stuck in the crawl up the hills for at least 1.5 hours before we reach our next destination - Boh Plantation at Sungai Palas. This is a reward for the long crawl!! The view is breathtaking.

After the Boh Plantation, we continue with our journey to our hotel in Brinchang and the crawl continue. On our way and to give our legs some relaxation time, we stop-by a stall that sells the fruit as picture below. Do you know the name of this fruit? We don't, some called it sea coconut but its juicier.

We also saw something unique, see photo below. The stall owner called it 'Ayam Mas' and its is said to cure diabetes and rheumatism!! It does look like a chicken.

By the time we reach Brinchang town, its 8pm and everyone is tired. We decided to park our car and walk to our hotel which is about 500m away. On our way we bought some food from the famous Brinchang pasar malam. What luck we are cause it rain before we reach our hotel. So, with hubby holding on Angel, me dragging our bag and 2 other friends following we march to our hotel. While another couple went food scouting at the pasar malam.

We reach our hotel, pay the balance of the rate and went straight to our room. At least the room is comfortable with 3 king size bed side by side. The room even have 2 bathroom and a small little area that we turn into our dining room. We have char kuey teow, burgers and strawberry and then take turn to clean ourselves.

By the time everyone is clean and get some rest, its 10pm. Even after our 'pasar malam' dinner, we still decided to have a proper dinner and what else if not steamboat.

Not bad for the price we pay. and we got a 10% discount cause we stay at their 'sister hotel'.

After the steaming hot dinner, we proceed to the pasar malam but most of the stalls are all packed and ready to leave. Nonetheless, I still managed to get 3 bottles of strawberry jam, 3 pots of cactus, a bag of pearl corn and a fridge magnet! All this in just 30 minutes, just imagine if I'm given 1 or 2 hours to shop! hehehehe....

The next morning we have our breakfast near the Brinchang wet market and have s hort stroll at the market. Wanted to go back to Kea Farm for some fresh vegetable but when we saw the crawl, we decided that we can also get Cameron vege in KL... so we left Brinchang.

On our way down to Tapah, we stop by at the famous Smokehouse and the Parit Waterfall. Overall, I enjoy the trip cause its the first time we bring along Angel for such a long drive trip. She enjoy it very much running around and playing with the uncles and aunties!

I stayed at this hotel and I find it very affordable, clean and tidy. We only pay RM150 (its public holiday) for a room with 3 kings size bed and 2 bathroom attached. The only complaint is the water heater is very slow in heating up.

Expectations

Have you ever feel that you have disappointed another person who really care / dearest to you because you can't meet their expectations? I have and I hate the feeling.

How do you maintain the relationship with that person when s/he openly commented that you have not meet her expectation? That same person too will say its ok and s/he have to just accommodate with whoever you are, when you know that the future will not be the same anymore for both of you.

I know it is too general for anyone to advise me based on the above. And, I don't intend to receive any advise from this. I just wanna think aloud, to brainstorm myself and what I should be doing for the relationship.

Maybe I too have expectation of the person. By having expectation and voicing it out caused the person to feel intimidated (like myself now). Hence, that person commented on me not meeting her/his expectation.

I wish the saying that everything will be alright after a drink is true. Then I might actually get myself drunk (which required only A drink) and we can start all over again.

Spaghetti Grill @ MidValley Boulevard

Here's another eatery that I have tried since working at this new office. The Spaghetti Grill! Actually, this is not the first time here. We are here again for farewell of our colleague whom is leaving us for a better opportunity elsewhere. The standard and quality of the food varies from the first time I was there, about one week ago. The food are more delicious and presentable the first time.

Lastly, Spaghetti Oglio which is basically like a vegetarian spaghetti. no meat at all!

Althought the standard varies, but they do serve some value for money set lunch with free flow of soft drinks.

Handphone

Nope, i'm not talking about handphone cause I'm technology-challenged. Just ask my hubby and he will tell you how ignorant I am about technology available today.

The reason for this post is because I'm so thankful to a person. If not for him, I could have lost my handphone and be scolded by my hubby. I don't know his name but he actually reminded me about the handphone I left on the dining table in Food Garden, Gardens.

I was having lunch with my colleague and we are so engrossed in our talking. We were about 5 five steps away from the table that we were sitted. Then someone call upon us, "Ah Moi, handphone!". I turn and was speechless cause I nearly left my handphone there. I can't stop thanking him!

So there are good man around after all :)
